It was great to be invited back to In Out of the Cold for the fourth year; the event aims to bring the homeless and vulnerable communities of Middlesbrough in and out of the cold for a couple of hours in Middlesbrough Town Hall.
Members of the Recovery Connections team along with ambassadors and individuals from the rehab came along to man our stall and chat with people about what we do and what support we can offer. We were joined by countless other services including Halo Project, A Way Out, Arch and Nightstop North East.
The Shoebox Appeal brought hundreds of shoeboxes with them filled with essentials such as socks, hats, various toiletries and some even with biscuits and chocolate – each person who attended got to take one away completely free. There were also selections of clothing items such as shoes, coats and jumpers with the opportunity to sit down or takeaway hot and cold food and drink.
The Recovery Connections choir enjoyed spreading some Christmas cheer towards the end of the event (head over to our Facebook for the video)! The crowd joined in on multiple occasions and the vibe
This event happens every year and is so important to the people who it aims to support. Bringing together not only the homeless communities but the communities within Middlesbrough to have fun, keep warm and spread a bit of festive happiness.
