Adrian is a trainee recovery worker as part of our Stockton team. His role involves supporting clients in their recovery over the telephone which involves relapse prevention, psychosocial interventions and signposting to Recovery Connections virtual Zoom meetings and anything else that can aid clients in their recovery journey. I have been getting involved with the meetings too and trying to find my feet in these unprecedented times as I’m new to the team.
Adrian says his favourite thing about working with Recovery Connections is working with staff and clients whose passion and direction for recovery is crystal clear: ‘I have started a role in which I can grow personally and use that to try and help others flourish in their recovery journey. I suffered many years of addiction and am very grateful to be given this opportunity to try and make a difference.’
His advice for anyone looking to start their recovery journey would be to keep everything in the moment and not place too much expectation on themselves as recovery journeys do not have an arrival time - it’s a personal journey that is full of highs and lows. It is these highs and lows that make us stronger and equipped for whatever life throws at us.
Something that people may not know about Adrian is that he is football fan and supports his home team, Coventry City!
